Any word on the details of the Archie yet, purse size , entry fee, classes?
Kotz-Kiana-Kotz just fininshed an hour ago. Unofficial new course record, 2h13m3s by JB.
Smoothe course. Nice day for racing.-6F today. None from Nome. Hope to send a few OTZ boys down for the NG in March.
Falker Out!
New course record? YA RIGHT!!!
Race is April 7th
sign up will be April 6th entry fee is 450.00 all goes back into the race non will be held like in the past. 3 classes
1st
2nd
3rd
and overall
currently working on seperate gaming permit to raise money dedicated for race itself next year.prize money will be the same as last year all three classes the same maybe might raise prize funds a little after a week see how we are doing on funds
the prize money for the race tenetivly will be
1st 3000.00
2nd 1800.00
3rd 1200.00
thats what we are planning will for all three classes plus 2000.00
overall
does this purse include part of the entry monies as in years past?
are you going to break it down again percentage wise in addition to the prize monies listed?
looking forward to this race! atigaa! ;)
Is there a women's class in this race? If there is, what are the prizes?? Is there an overall prize for the women's class?? thanks.
no women's class but you are more then welcome to sign and ride along with everyone else.
note...the ice road is open otz to Kiana....
"Qayuqliks" neone !!!!
Is there going to be a late entry fee?
I heard gas was being provided to encourage out-of-town participation?? Good idea. However, I also heard that the gas would not be stationed in the checkpoints ahead of time like the Nome-Golovin race. Is this the case? If so, what's the reasoning? Thanks for the info.
pit passes, gas at checkpoints, gas prices in villages come on throw some of this stuff out there so maybe some participation can figure out whats going on, or are there too many secrets to give out
hey brother from another mother.this is your drunk brother.see ya on race day pushing 9000 miles on my sled hope your cat can hang with the the old polaris later dude
i probably can complain all i want ,but your race the archie is your race. theres no I in team efforts keep up the effort p.s i get drunk only after team says i could
With the gas prices, sled parts, and snowmachine prices going up, I hope lions club don't try to rip us on "pit bibs", we shouldn't have to buy that stuff. We don't need bibs in the pit, just some good officials at each checkpoint to keep an eye out.
3-25
WOW....HERE WE GO AGAIN...
DIDN'T WE LEARN FROM LAST YEAR GUYS?
SAFE AND HAPPY TRAILS...
it is a pissing contest, whoever pisses the most wins.......
All you guys typing this stuff are real Kooonuks in my book, I just want to ask. Are you guys racing? or are you just one of the guys that are on the side of the trail with a jug in your hand every year yelling and screaming crap? Grow up man, every race is different! If you want a pissing contest you all should hold a meeting and put a bunch of cash in a hat and the best one wins! With that you can fight and moan about that stuff rather then who is doing wrong in Kotzebue.
like my buddy say's sometimes "LETTUM" damn it!!! good luck to all and.. don't aahnngaa UUU squailluq's... just taahtnaaq n haul ass n take name's later...
You kids stop playing around with the "CB"
can I get a copy of the race rules or is there someone I can contact about the Archie race on the seventh?
call the lions club at 442-3715...there should be someone there from 11 to 4pm m-f....
question about the gas?????
Crowley is donating the gas again this year....but the club is having to purchase the tank....it will not be in drums...no way to get it to the villages....
BIG THANK YOU TO HERMIE AT CROWLEY...THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT....
how much for the racing fee?
$450.00
Jason Avery:
If the weather is good the day before the kotz. race, I will be flying my plane up to fly the race on Saturday. I'm not on skis, but could communicate back to someone if their is a major accident. Give me a call at 304-1143 if you need me to help. Lahka Peacock
Wow.....sounds like a party with allodda R&R...YeeeHAW!
Can I go with you, Lahka? Do you have auto pilot?
Autumn,
Is Lahka bringing the Hot Dogs for the Banquet?
how many have signed up?
About 15-18? in "A" class, 28 in "B" class, 7 in "C" class.
A class 601- up liquid
B 0-600 liquid
C fan class.
class c -6
class b- 28
class a- 16
looks like some pretty good payouts if you ask me. c-class 3600 for 1st b-class 8550 a-class 5850 for 1st and add 2000 for overall. from the sounds of it that's as good as the nome-golovin was. atleast when i talked to evan booth he said he got 6000+ for his class.
BALLZ-OUT RACING
POLARIS ALL THE WAY!!
Darn good payouts!
If by chance class B were to take overall, such is happening more often now, the winner would take home about $10,500 not including calcutta.
If class C wins overall, the class winner WITH overall will not take home as much as class B first place.
Simply because twice the entrants in class B.
I see Tre West, winner of NG this year on a 600 Cat and Overall, is riding his dads F1000 up there in the big class. May be a good race between him Jimmy Baldwin!
'Course, there's two Mach Z's in in too, and they ain't slow.
Oh, boy, wish I was there to watch. Hope the radio station does a better job this year broadcasting, we'll be listening in for sure.
Be safe!
lotta good riders this year. good competition. glad to see a good turnout. anybodys race. should be fun.
brothers from all your mothers .ahhhhh ...laban jr get real.................
Does anyone know what the estimated winning time might be for this year?
Listening from Nome..
Its 2:15 the race is over for most. Tried to listen to KOTZ on the Internet for coverage......absolutely ridiculous!
Who's bright idea to have the Dog race finish at the same time as the Snowmachine race?
Announcer at the finish line talking with scratched riders while finishers are coming in, not knowing one class from the other, etc...CONFUSING AS HELL!!
Only reports going out from Kiana, nothing from anywhere else....??
Noorvik?
Selawik?
LOTS of room for improvement.
anyone know who won the race.
Class A- large sleds
1. Steffen Schaeffer F7 2:37:52
2. Harold Lambert F7 2:38:09
3. Jimmy Baldwin F8 2:42:40
Class B- 600's
1. Steven Williamson F6 2:35:55
2. Pookie Vivieros F6 2:36:20
3. Mike Morgan IQ6 2:38:09
Class C- Fan sleds
1. Dan Henry C Z440 3:19:39
2. Randy Toshavik C 570 3:22:22
3. Jeese Crumbley S 550 ?
Steven Williamson set a new course record according to Nate Kotch. He was riding an Arctic Cat F6. He then won the overall bonus of $2000.
Amen on the poor race coverage. We need to get Nome's Ham group up there next year.
Maybe Nate would go do the race radio coverage for KOTZ??
thanks for the results.. any stories on scratches....
goo poop
what happen to gary n. from kka
Alot of belts/shocks/tracks were blown, but that something to be expected in a 205 mile race when everyone has the same goal, go fast and finish the race. I personally blew a belt and my rear shocks.
As far as conditions the river was fast and smooth, coast was full of loose snow, Selawik flats had good snow conditions 2/3 to noorvik, then 1/3 was tundra with ice and barely any snow.
maybe some phone calls to KOTZ will help out with the broadcasting...i hear people were calling in from the villages to give reports and were being put on hold....the ham radio club had expressed interest a year or so ago but backed out...they would be more then welcome to come up and help out....
Sounds like everyone had a good time in kotz, very well run event.
Congrads to Team Arctic dominating the rest of the field.
hey guys thank you all for the excellent turnout. We are already looking towards next years race.
our committe has expressed interest in purchasing sat phones wich would improve the race coverage forsure.always open to sugestions.was a busy weekend with the dog races. just happend that way due to the calender. but all in all we feel it was a great success thank you all and everyone who helped out especially crowley the villages the airlines everyone .look for a letter in the sounder
despite the poor coverage on kotz radio i think the turnout and purse were excellent. otz lions did a good job this year and can only get better. even though i didn't race i thank them for putting on a good show. GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF YOUR IMPORTANT, PEOPLE WILL WAIT FOR YOU.
are you lost?
you just didnt catch me.
BALLZ OUT RACING??!!!
Pahhhleeze! Just talk is all!
So it must be true that any good running f7,will runaway from the new f8,
HAHAHA! Ballz out racing heard fan class caught him before safety in nome race and he still didnt shut up ,there shouldnt be no excuse .
What happen to MIke Morgan & Tre West?
once again, mind over matter. speed is everything about steven.and af/wg is what he is all about.
Not sure what happened to Tre's sled but I passed him doing about 90, strong head winds.
I thought they wanted to go fishing they went on a fishing trail way out there.next year though come on back good to have ya all.
Like I said...Ballz-out Racing is just nothing but talk....everything ALWAYS has an EXCUSE!
The Archie was overall a great race. Purse was phenomenal...can't beat that! Hopefully from here on out there is only room for improvement. Jason Avery was wonderful and did a fine job. Keep up the good work and we'll see you next year.
WEATHER was definatly an adding factor to the fun and enjoyment of the race.
P.S. You did a great job on lowering the entry fee, now let's try and get rid of the pit bibs next year....they are ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS and take away from those who want to volunteer to help racers.
$15.00 per Pit Bib is so like NONSENSE!
At any rate.....Good job!
$15.00 per pit bid is so like an unemployed couple wasting their money at bingo instead of buying their babies diapers and milk.
Box stock FIRECAT 600's run away from the "NEW" F8's. The times show it.
is this site still up and running ?
How's about posting who actually placed last year?
AND get ready for what is going on for this year?
BTW: good job with gettin' info out
