This race is AWESOME!!! Thanks to all you who volunteer to put this race on and make it what it is!
Hey, anyone got any pics of the Watercross races in Kotz? Here in Noorvik there are only one or two on the water and all they do is go in a straight line, beach to beach and on the sandbar. Would be great to see the guys in kotz on the water again.

Kotz-Kia Race, whats the entry fee and how many classes?
Kotz Kiana entry fee is usually low, $250-350. Might be 3 classes, fan, 0-600, 601+.
Unalakleet trail is very icy. That warm spell melted all the snow.

Kotz-Kiana-Kotz just fininshed an hour ago. Unofficial new course record, 2h13m3s by JBaldwin.
Smoothe course. Nice day for racing.-6F today. None from Nome. Hope to send a few OTZ boys down for the NG in March.

Jimmy Baldwin was running a new '07 Arctic Cat F8 in the Kotz-Kiana-Kotz race when he set the new course record.

Kotz Kiana race, 2 classes, fan and open liquid, big disappointment for the 600 riders. Lets hope next time they think more of the 600 racers as there is usually more of them, then the bigger sleds.
What about the other classes, name, sno-go type?

Fan was won by Pooky V- polaris 550, 2nd Randy Toshavik-prox 440, 3rd was Jesse Crumbley ski doo 550.
Open class, 1st Jim B f8, 2nd Justin Morris - f6, 3rd Radar Lambert f6.
how many total machines raced kotz-kiana.... any stories on scratches... any big surprises any big disappointments
the kotz kiana race had just a few riders but it was good to see a race again. i here there will be a few riders from kotz area headed to nome. pooky looked good on the small sled. steven williamson will be there on a f6 - he is always out front and will be hard to beat. i hear jim baldwin wont be going to nome this yr. i heard he spent a bunch of test time with the new sled and its looking good. he set the new course record in kotz kiana 2:13 on 205 miles race.that course time is pretty fast for the tight river. we had close contact with the air coverage during the race -on the way back to town baldwin appeared to pick up the pace. at times he was pulling away from 115 on gps.
Kotz kiana, through the islands above Kiana, is about 180 miles physically. 12 riders over all, 6 in fan, 6 in liquid.
2 ski doo 550 fans, 3 550 super sports, 1 prox 440 in the fan class.
1 f8, 1 viper 700, 2 f6's, 1 xc 600, a xc 700? in the liquid class.
Fastest average speed of the race at 2:13 hours is 84.5 mph.

No Cannonball this year, mainly due to a lack of interest. The guys who put on NG are burned out tired.
On top of that, exceptionally poor snow conditions in and around Nome.
The Kotz race is the last hurrah this year. Sign up and race!

No snow for Cannonball....SNOWCROSS interest anyone???? Sounds pretty happening if people want to get together and shed alittle elbow grease to build the track. It's definately doable! Kotz did it and it was GREAT. Lahka's a master at building a track!
